About the Wooster Cricket Club

The Wooster Cricket Club (WCC) is a student-run club organization at the College of Wooster.

Cricket at Wooster dates back over 25 years: the club was reinvigorated in the early 1990s and now plays primarily against college cricket teams in the Mid-West and on the East Coast.  The team also participates in the annual Spring Break American College Cricket tournament in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.  Consisting primarily of South Asian students when initially formed, the past couple of years have seen the club’s diversity multiply. The club has been recently represented by members from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, UK, The Netherlands, and the USA.

In October 2010, WCC met a challenge from President Grant Cornwell: Beat the current attendance record for spectators at a college cricket match in the USA.   With over 900 people watching, the team defeated a local team of Wooster community members in a very exciting Homecoming match to beat the prior record of 400.
